    Il 7 dicembre 1984 Michael Jackson testimoniò a Chicago per la causa di plagio del suo ultimo singolo "The Girl Is Mine", in collaborazione con Paul McCartney.

    In realtà la canzone fu soggetta a due processi, una nel 1984 e una nel 1993, entrambe riconoscendo l'autentecità di essa.

    Il primo fu indotto da Fred Sanford, che affermò che Jackson aveva inciso un nastro della sua canzone, "Please Love Me Now". Durante il corso del processo fu sentito anche Michael come testimone e non come imputato. Alla fine la giuria diede ragione a Michael.
