From Las Vegas Review Journal: Is cash-strapped Michael Jackson, like Elvis 30-plus years ago, planning a comeback in Las Vegas? The speculation grows each week after Jackson's monthlong presence on the Strip, meetings with major headliners and his courtship of at least one casino owner. There are strong indications that he's signaling his next career move: integrating magic with his music. Last week Jackson walked out of Barnes and Noble bookstore on Maryland Parkway with a stack of books and CDs, apparently adding to his collection of magic items purchased at shops along the Strip.
In what appears to be a prolonged scouting trip, Jackson has met with Siegfried and Roy several times, making no secret of his long obsession with magic. He also checked out Darren Romeo, the "Voice of Magic." And the self-proclaimed King of Pop had a sitdown with The Venetian's Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Miriam. If Jackson wasn't pitching the idea of helping bring back the high-roller crowd to The Venetian, there's a good chance he expressed interest in Adelson's planned property on Macau, where Jackson's damaged image might be less of a liability.

With his once-sprawling music empire appearing to be in a free-fall, Jackson undoubtedly views Celine Dion's mega-deal with Caesars Palace with envy. Jackson, said to be more than $200 million in debt, seems to be on a fishing expedition. The question: Will Las Vegas bite?
