Taraborrelli ha annunciato che ci sarà un aggiornamento del suo libro a giugno 2010(più o meno).
Quà l'articolo in inglese:
"We've decided to do a thorough update and revision of my Michael Jackson book next year. I did this kind of thing in 2005 for the UK edition. What I did was go through the original 1991 edition and re-interview some of the most important sources to see how they felt about what they'd said 14 years earlier, whether they still felt that way or not and whether they had anything to add. Then, I also went through the original text to make decisions about how I felt about those original stories with the passing of time, whether or not they reflected my present sensibilities and points of view. A lot -- A LOT! -- of stories were changed. Many of them were just deleted and new material added in their places. (By the way, most of what was deleted from the first edition were stories about the brothers that were interesting but had nothing to do with Michael. It was a decision I made to fine tune the book and refocus the story.)
People often ask how a fact that is a fact in 1991 can be different in 2005? It's a good question. In my view, history is not set in stone. It's fluid. People's perceptions of events change as they get more information, as new documents are found -- as new sources come forward. Imagine if all we knew about how the Jackson 5 were discovered, for instance, was what we knew in 1970 - that Diana Ross discovered them. Imagine that as being a "fact" in 1970 and imagine having to stick to it now, even though we now know it's not exactly true. Indeed, if you wrote a book in 1970 and stated that as fact, you'd sure want to go back now and change it, right?
Here's another example:
As those of you who have read my book know, I was skeptical about Michael's marriage to Lisa Marie when it happened and I even reported my skepticism on Good Morning America. But then, things changed. Why? Because I interviewed MJ several times about it and I also interviewed LMP. And I changed my mind based on information I decided was from two very good sources -- the husband and wife involved in the marriage. And my reporting about it followed suit. Were they BOTH lying? Was the marriage a fake and they were BOTH lying to me about it? Well, sure, it's possible. People do lie, especially celebrities when they're crafting an image. Happens all the time. I've been around long enough to know that you can't just believe everything you're told simply because a person tells it to you. But, after careful consideration and a lot of deliberation, I decided to rethink my viewpoint, especially since some of my interviews with LMP occurred after the divorce when she could have said anything she wanted to say. I felt that I had a sense of her character; she tells it like it is and let's the chips fall where they may. Can you imagine what kind of reporter I would be if I wrote: "I interviewed both Michael and Lisa Marie several times about their marriage. They both maintained over the course of years that it was a legitimate relationship. However, I have decided with all of my great wisdom and understanding of love and romance that, guess what? They are both liars. I know better." No... you've got to keep an open mind if you're going to cover all-things-Jackson, that's something I know for sure.
Anyway, I am always looking at MJ's story and changing how I feel about it. Things change. People change. I change. I wrote the first edition of MJ almost 20 years ago, and I'm not the same guy today. The second edition was in 2005. (The 2009 edition was the addition of first-person chapters added onto the end of the 2005 book because we had no time to analyze anything that came before.) But I see things differently now and if you're going to buy one of my MJ books you have to know that it's a fluid story being told by someone who's always re-examining it. It's told through my personal lens, too. And, incidentally, some people don't understand that process, either. They think the facts speak for themselves. No, not quite. A good biography isn't just a presentation of facts in chronological order, at least mine aren't written that way. They are the facts as I view them, as I have analyzed them, distilled through my own experiences, my perceptions. I think people get as much about me from my books as they do about my subjects.
Anyway, I've gotten the cooperation of some of the people closest to Michael -- and I mean, really close!-- for the new edition of MJ. And we're going to go through the book as it is now and re-examine, re-clarify and re-analyze ... and maybe (probably) re-write based on new information. Plus, we will update the present, ongoing story, too."
