Trovato duetto nella casa di Prince con Michael Jackson

Pare sia stata trovata nella casa del principe, una registrazione su nastro di un duetto tra Michael e Prince.

Come sappiamo nel corso degli anni '80, Michael Jackson e Prince hanno cercato una collaborazione per l'album Bad, progetto poi non accettato da Prince.

Ma c'era una canzone che sarebbe stata registrata da musicisti chiamati "Unity 4 The People", il tema musicale è la carità. Si dice che Prince abbia cancellato questo progetto poichè in quel periodo c'erano voci di MJ sull'acquisto delle ossa di Elephant Man.

Ma che giustificazione sarebbe???
Rogerino era bello strano e - per me - piuttosto insopportabile in certi suoi integralismi religiosi, ma che offesa avrebbe potuto mai arrecare una cosa del genere (nella testa dei giornalisti di tabloid intendo, dove credo sia nata sta "rivelazione").

Bisogna vedere quanto sia attendibile, al momento non ho trovato ne conferme, ne smentite.

Magari questo duetto finora non è mai uscito perché il risultato finale non era degno di pubblicazione o perché sia MJ sia Prince (o chi per loro) non avevano interesse a farlo.

Spesso gli artisti si incontrano, collaborano, mettono giù dei suoni, dei versi, delle idee in maniera provvisoria e non è detto che tutto sia necessariamente geniale. Anzi, io trovo che spesso le collaborazioni studiate "a tavolino" diano vita a canzoni spesso mediocri, oppure - per essere meno severa - a canzoni belle da ascoltare ma non eccezionali, anche se i due artisti che hanno collaborato sono di per sé dei geni. Basti pensare alle canzoni che Michael ha fatto con Stevie Wonder o Paul McCarteney; canzoni belle, orecchiabili, il cui motivo continua a risuonarti nella testa, ma niente a che spartire con canzoni del calibro di Thriller, Man in the mirror, Bad...solo per fare alcuni esempi.

In ogni caso, io sarei curiosa di ascoltare cosa questi due hanno combinato insieme, quindi spero che questo duetto, nel caso in cui esista, sia pubblicato.

Partendo dall'ipotesi che l'elenco sia vero...


Non posso certo definirmi un’esperta della musica di Prince (ci vorrebbe Xeno), nonostante la lunga militanza come seguace, ma due cose voglio dirle.

La lista qui sopra esposta è, per ammissione dello scrivente, parziale, e basata sulle etichette riportate sui nastri/hard disks: in così poco tempo quelli del Bremen non han certo avuto tempo di ascoltare tutto.

L'ipotetico ritrovamento di Toy di Bowie ha provocato in me un viaggione del tipo: perché metter in cassaforte un file che hai scaricato da internet? O l’hai avuto prima che diventasse di dominio pubblico?? Vuoi vedere che questi due han avuto qualche contatto, o che a Prince è arrivata una copia di quello che doveva uscire nel 2001?? Solo pippe mentali, ma ogni tanto ci penso e non me la spiego…


Susan Rogers, ingegnere del suono di Prince dal 1983 all’87, ha praticamente creato “The Vault”, cominciando a raccogliere i nastri che lui aveva sparso tra diversi studi di registrazione. Quando ha smesso di collaborare con lui – 29 anni fa- la stanza era già quasi piena. E va bene che ora basta un hard disk per contenere migliaia di file, ma di sicuro di roba ce n’è tanta, e solo per ascoltarla bisognerà impegnare una task force.

A meno che, come pare abbia detto in più di un’occasione e come han fatto tanti artisti, non abbia deliberatamente distrutto parte del suo archivio. Mi aspetto di tutto, dal nano.

E infine: dove caspita sono gli inediti con MILES DAVIS???? Non ditemi che per 25 anni ci han raccontato che c’erano poi non ci sono….

Secondo me è la solita invenzione dei giornalisti, a meno che non intendevano dire che con quelle voci Prince ha ritenuto Michael uno stupido e ha cancellato il progetto, ma mi sembra strano che lui abbia creduto a voci di tabloid, considerato che sapeva come funzionavano e spesso capitava anche a lui.

Piuttosto io non riesco proprio a spiegarmi come, dopo aver passato anni a controllare i suoi affari, Prince non abbia fatto testamento rischiando di lasciare tutto nelle mani di chissachì e mandare tutto in malora.

Per tanti anni un duetto tra Mike e Prince è stato il sogno musicale della mia vita....quando almeno Prince era ancora in vita, continuavo a sognarlo...ora non voglio più sentirlo - posto che esista, cosa di cui dubito fortemente, altrimenti lo sapremmo da un pezzo - perchè la tristezza sarebbe davvero troppa...
