Il Time Magazine ha stilato una lista delle 100 canzoni più importanti di tutti i tempi per decennio, partendo dagli anni '20 (decennio in cui è nata la rivista), fino ad arrivare negli anni '00.
I pezzi non sono in nessun ordine particolare, sono semplicemente in lista e quest'ultima, non contiene più pezzi dello stesso artista. Presenti i Beatles con
I Want To Hold Your Hand (1963), considerata dal Time come un brano che ha cambiato la musica Pop ed è "il migliore esempio di come le voci di John Lennon e Paul McCartney, con il dono del cantautoraro, possano intrecciarsi...ed essere inseparabili".
Per i Led Zeppelin,
Immigrant Song è stata preferita a
Stairway to Heaven.
Scelta piuttosto singolare anche per Madonna, con
Borderline. Prince è invece incluso con il suo miglior singolo,
