Intervista:
Jermaine: This is Jermaine Jackson, sitting here rapping with my brothers, you know, the Jackson 5.
Michael: Yeah. Jack, what do you dig about show biz, hmm?
Jackie: Well, show business is my thing, you know. I always wanted to be in show business. I guess you did, too, Mike.
Michael: Yeah.
Jackie: I love it very much.
Jermaine: Marlon, out of all of our albums, what is your favorite song?
Marlon: Uh, I'll pick I'll Be There.
Jermaine: I'll Be There?
Marlon: Yeah. It was... it's, it's just... one of my favorites and it's...
Jackie: Yeah.
Marlon: ... a great song, too.
Tito: Right, I can dig it.
Jermaine: What about you, Tito?
Tito: Well, I like I Want You Back. I'm crazy about that.
Jermaine: That was our first song.
Tito: Right, that was our very first. Went right to the top.
Michael: Well, I like Can I See You in the Morning and I'll Be There. I like I'll Be There cuz it's slow and it's our first time doing a slow song and I like slow songs.
Jackie: Well, don't forget about The Love You Save, man. That was jumpin'
Tito: That was jumpin.
Michael: Jumpin' like hot beans on a Sunday morning.
Jackie: Right on.
Tito: Right on.
Jackie: [laughs]
Jermaine: The ones I like, uh, ABC and...
Jackie: Yeah, ABC.
Marlon: Who is your favorite group?
Michael: I like the Supremes, and I like the Four Tops and I like Diana Ross...
Jackie: You got a lot of them!
Michael: We just did a show in Miami, right?
Jackie: Right.
Michael: And we saw the Tempts.
Jackie: How was the show?
Michael: It was great.
Jermaine: What do you like best when you're on the road, Marlon?
Marlon: I like to... eat! [everyone laughs] One of my favorites!
Jermaine: How about you, Mike?
Michael: Well, I like staying in hotels, and when we get off-stage, I like to order, uh, order a lot of pops and have fun and watch tv, then go to bed.
Jermaine: What do you mostly order?
Michael: Um, hamburgers, bacon, sandwiches, barbeque, soul food!
Michael: Tito, who is your favorite actor?
Tito: Well, I'd say John Wayne.
Jackie: John Wayne?
Tito: Yeah.
Michael: Who's your favorite actor, Marlon?
Marlon: I'd say, uh, James Colburn.
Michael: Yeah, I like him, too.
Jackie: My man, James Cagney.
Michael: I like James Bond.
Tito: How about Brother Sidney?
Jermaine: James Cagney and Sidney Poitier.
Michael: Yeah, yeah.
Marlon: Jackie, what are your love and hates?
Jackie: Well, I love my basketball and I hate the cold weather. I love Gary, Indiana, but I still hate the cold.
Tito: Right on, brother.
Marlon: Hey, wasn't it freezin' in Gary when we went back?
Jackie: Woo, 'bout 6 below zero, man!
Michael: And that's cold!
Tito: But you know, it was really fun. We went back home and everything was great. They named a street after us.
Jackie: We got keys to the city, you know, each one of us.
Marlon: Yeah.
Jackie: Got all kind of awards from our friends.
Marlon: The helicopter ride into...
Jackie: I was kind of scared.
Michael: I was scared, too.
Tito: First time on a helicopter is a trip!
Michael: Tito, I saw a few of your pictures you done. Do you like 'em?
Tito: Yeah, that's my bag. One day I caught you asleep and one day your hair was braided and I took some flicks of you!
Michael: For real?
Tito: When you were asleep!
Michael: Show me that picture when you get home!
[Marlon laughs]
Michael: Tito, what is your favorite sport, what do you like?
Tito: Well, I love baseball. I love archery.
Michael: What do you like, Marlon?
Marlon: I like golf and soccer. Baseball. Basketball. Football.
Jackie: What do you like, Mike?
Marlon: Yeah!
Michael: I love swimming!
Jackie: Yeah [laughs].
Michael: Do you? Do you like swimming?
Jackie: Yeah, I like swimming.
Michael: How about you, 'Maine?
Jermaine: It's okay with me.
Tito: I remember when I was in Gary, I dug on a chick at Gary Roosevelt High School. We was doing our very first talent show. And I messed up playing my guitar from staring at this chick, and I was nervous on the other half. And Michael, he was so nervous, he dropped a microphone! [laughs]
Jackie: Hey, Tito!
Tito: But anyway we took it away.
Jackie: Tito! Tito! Remember the first time we started, you know, Michael used to play the bongos, you know...
Tito: Yeah, I remember them old days.
Jackie: And you had a lead guitar and Jermaine didn't know what a bass guitar was, he had another lead guitar.
Tito: Old days, so nice to remember.
Marlon: Jermaine, what do you like about girls?
Jermaine: I like girl that are quiet with nice pretty brown eyes.
Tito: Right on, brother.
Jermaine: Hmm, dah-dah... Not too loud...
Jackie: [laughing] Dah-dah!
Jermaine: Sort of shy, but not shy but...
Michael: (sarcastically) Yeah, you like 'em shy. [Marlon laughs]
Jermaine: Sweet and...
Jackie: That's how Hazel is.
Jermaine: ... smart and bright.
Tito: I agree 100%, brother. How about you, Michael?
Michael: Well, I like 'em with pretty big eyes [pause, then a laugh] and, uh, let me see what else I like about gals. [Marlon breaks out laughing]
Tito: How about their personality, Mike?
Michael: Yeah, I like their personality, that's one thing I like about 'em. What do you like, Jackie?
Jackie: Well, I like girls mostly on the slim side, you know. You know, I agree with you, Jermaine, about personality and looks.
Tito: Right, that's what I like most of all. I like a girl that's not too loud and not too quiet.
Jackie: Who'll give me all the lovin'
Tito: Right!
Michael: When you get older, Tito, are you going to stick with the group, or what are you going to do?
Tito: I'ma stick with my group as long as my group be here, you better believe it.
Michael: Are you going to be an actor and be with the group still?
Tito: Well, my plans are going to engineering school. I'd like to invest my money in studios.
Michael: Well, I was planning on being an actor. And singer, something like Sammy Davis style.
Jackie: Yeah, that's good, Mike. Good thinking, son.
Michael: What about you, Jermaine? [laughing]
Jackie: Yeah, what about you, Jermaine?
Jermaine: Songs and things.
Michael: Oh, you gonna be a writer.
Jackie: Yeah.
Tito: Right on, brother, I can dig that! Amen
